As a business owner, I am working on my ‘brand’. Basically, I’m creating tools and fun ways for people who don’t know me yet, to immediately fall in love with me. It’s super fun and interesting. Some really great ‘ahh-haa DUH’ realizations are happening over here. It’s fascinating.
I was going to share these tools with my fellow business builders, and then I thought “and with job seekers! They need to be able to articulate themselves too!” Then I realized that this is powerful work for everyone to do – regardless of if you are your own business or not. Spending time on what makes you unique and special has value! You are already doing what no one else can do, in your own unique way, so claim it! Going through this process really made me see what uniquitude (yep, made up word, enjoy it!) I have to offer, which is a powerful and empowering process for anyone to go through, period.
Here are the two tools I used.
I started with Alex Franzen – she’s got a terrific system to walk you through this process of creating your answer to the age old question “What do you do?” Sometimes presented as “What are you up to these days?”. My recommendation – follow her steps, answer the questions without trying to predict the outcome. I did that the first time- I was answering the questions based on the answer I was already giving to this question, and it totally handicapped me. What I created that first round sucked, it was milquetoast and average. NOT the point of this activity. I did it a second time just responding to the questions, and it was red hott.
I then moved on to Ms. Shenee Howard, she’s got a rockin’ formula to pull your personal mission statement out of you. You don’t need to be a business owner to have a mission statement! What are you wanting to do with your one life here? Boom. Mission statement.
The combination of these two tools is a powerful one-two punch of authenticity and clarity. Mix in one ‘hell yeah!’ of adrenaline, and you’re revved up and ready to rock it. Be it a job interview, bio page, or answering the question ‘what are you up to?’.

What I’m up to:
I am an unconventional, energy tornado of a Life Coach. I galvanize people who are looking for more in their lives to take action! I inspire them to see simple solutions to overwhelming problems. I believe that there is no such thing as ‘the norm’ and that ‘should’ is a useless word. I believe we are never more scared then when we are walking towards our dreams, and that it is worth it. Currently I’m working with clients one on one and launching Find Your Daily Yes – a daily practice to discover everything you love about your life. But what I really want to know is, what do you freaking want?
